Vernon PAL Wrestling Program K - 8th Grade

Who are we?

A proud program comprised of children from the Vernon Township community.  Our program is open to boys and girls in grades K - 8th.

What will my child get out of wrestling?

It is important to us that we work with all of our athletes to compete at the highest level possible for them.  For some it may mean learning the basics and getting into better shape.  For others it may mean competing for a state title.  Whatever their goals, our coaches will work with your children and encourage them to get there.

Wrestling is not an easy sport but it's one that builds character, perseverance, and determination.  By becoming part of our program, your child will develop these characteristics each and every day.  Of course, we will have some fun along the way as well.

What equipment do I need?

We require that all our wrestlers come prepared with headgear and wrestling shoes.

How long is the season?

The program runs mid November through the 1st week of March.  Practices will be held at the Vernon High School in either the mat room or the cafeteria.  Wrestlers will practice two to three times per week depending on age and experience.  Practices may be held on Saturdays and there will be some tournaments on weekends.

Does my child have to lose weight to wrestle?

Absolutely not.  We train our athletes to be in the best shape they possibly can.  Sometimes they lose weight over the course of the season, but they will never be asked to cut weight.

Who do we wrestle against?

PAL Wrestlers will participate in NWJMWL, Future Stars League, numerous jamboree matches for 1st and 2nd year wrestlers,  other tournaments and matches will be available throughout the season.
